Image Compress
Compress images to reduce file size. Quality or target-size mode. Onlineimage compressor, private client-side.
How image compression works here
Drop JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, or HEIC files onto the page and choose a mode. Quality mode applies the slider value (10-100) to every file. Target-size mode takes a kilobyte goal and binary-searches the lowest quality that fits. Tick Skip if already smaller to copy files that already beat the target instead of re-encoding them. Batches download individually or as a ZIP archive. All processing runs locally in your browser - nothing is uploaded.
Quality and format limits
- JPEG and WebP are lossy: quality 80-90 is barely distinguishable from the source, below 60 banding and block artifacts appear. Re-compressing the same file twice stacks damage - always compress from the master.
- PNG is optimized losslessly: gains come from better encoding, not discarded detail, so photographic PNGs shrink far less than JPEGs at matched quality.
- Target size is best-effort. Tiny goals on detailed photos bottom out at minimum quality and may still overshoot; simple graphics undershoot with room to spare. Check the reported output size before downloading.
Compress or convert?
Compress keeps the format and cuts bytes: product photos under a marketplace kilobyte cap, portfolio pages on a bandwidth budget, avatars under an upload limit. If you need a different container - HEIC to JPEG for sharing, PNG to WebP for the modern web - use Image Converter instead, which switches codecs and optionally resizes in the same pass.
