When not to convert MOD to HE-AAC
- Skip HE-AAC for archival masters: lossy compression discards detail, so keep the MOD original.
- Still frames only: HE-AAC cannot animate, so just the first frame of MOD carries over.
Limits
Starting point: MOD - MOD names both JVC's MPEG-2 camcorder files and tracker music modules. Camcorder files convert as video; tracker modules convert as audio. Needs an HE-AAC decoder; plain AAC players may play only half the bandwidth. Encode HE-AAC (HE-AAC) from MOD at a bitrate near the source, and confirm the audio track before converting.
How conversion works
Conversion runs entirely in your browser with FFmpeg WASM. Files never leave your device.
