How it works

Private by design
Everything runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly. Your images are never uploaded to any server - you can even go offline after the page loads.
How image conversion works here

Format limits to know before converting
- Transparency survives only into PNG, APNG, WebP, GIF, or ICO. Convertingto JPEG flattens alpha onto a background.
- RAW (CR2, NEF, DNG), HEIC/HEIF, SVG, and PSD are rasterized on import: white balance and layers bake in, so adjust the source first and keep the original.
- TIFF, BMP, and PNM outputs are lossless but large - prefer PNG for the same pixels, WebP or AVIF for the smallest shareable files.
- ICO outputs bundle 16 to 256 px entries with transparency; larger sources are downscaled to fit 256 px.
- AVIF gives the best compression for photos and animation, but older viewers may not open it - keep a JPEG or PNG copy for sharing.
Convert or compress?
Convert changes the container and codec: HEIC to JPEG for universal viewing, PNG to WebP for lighter web pages, SVG to PNG for apps without vector support. If the format is already right and you only need fewer bytes, use Image Compress instead - it keeps the format and squeezes the size with a quality or target-size control.
